This page outlines the benefits of joining GAIHST as well as the different membership categories.

By becoming a member, you will be supporting the cause of victims of workplace harassment and helping GAIHST achieve its goals.

As a member

  • You are informed of the development of services, ongoing projects, programs, and research on harassment;
  • You can participate in working committees or initiatives aimed at promoting the interests of victims.

Annual cost: 10 $

The benefits

  • You will have access to the annual activity report;
  • You will receive a membership card; 
  • You will receive the Info-GAIHST, the organization’s internal newsletter, four times a year;
  • You will be invited to all GAIHST activities; 
  • You could volunteer at GAIHST activities; 
  • You could attend our “cafés-rencontres” and benefit from the expertise of our counsellors; 
  • You could receive discounts on GAIHST promotional items; 
  • You will be invited to the GAIHST annual general meeting; 
  • You could be invited to represent GAIHST or individuals who have experienced workplace harassment at various events; 
  • You will share a cause close to your heart with people who are equally committed to it. 

The different membership categories

  • Active members

Any individual interested in the objectives and activities of GAIHST, who complies with the admission standards established from time to time by Board resolution, may become an active member of GAIHST upon application and if the Board grants them this status. Active members have the right to participate in all activities of GAIHST, to receive notices of convocation to member assemblies, to attend these assemblies, and to vote therein. Only active members in good standing for at least three (3) months may become eligible for the position of administrator of GAIHST, except as provided under Article 6.

  • Corportate members

Any company or corporation interested in the objectives and activities of GAIHST and that complies with the established admission standards may become a corporate member. A corporate member has the right to be represented by an individual designated in writing. The individual representing the corporation is eligible for the Board after three (3) months as a member in good standing. This representative attends and votes at member assemblies on behalf of the corporate member. The corporate members may revoke and replace their representatives. The representative of a corporate member loses their rights should the corporate member no longer be in good standing.

Any community center interested in the objectives and activities of GAIHST and that complies with the established admission standards may become a community member. Such a center has the right to be represented by an individual designated in writing. This representative attends and votes at member assemblies on behalf of the community member. The community members may revoke and replace their representatives. Automatic withdrawal of the representative occurs upon the departure of the community member who designated them. Several representatives from the same organization may attend assemblies and have the right to speak, but only one holds the right to vote. In the event of the departure of such members, their replacement is left to the discretion of the Board.

The Board may, by resolution, appoint as an honorary member of GAIHST any individual who has rendered or may render service to GAIHST through their work or donations, or who has demonstrated support for the objectives pursued by GAIHST. Honorary members may participate in the activities of GAIHST and attend member assemblies. Honorary members have the right to vote therein and are eligible as administrators of GAIHST after three (3) months as a member in good standing.

The Board may, by resolution, appoint as a limited-term honorary member of GAIHST any individual who has rendered or may render service to GAIHST through their work or donations, or who has demonstrated support for the objectives pursued byGAIHST. Limited-term honorary members may participate in the activities of GAIHST and attend member assemblies. They have the right to speak but do not have the right to vote. They are not eligible for the Board as administrators of GAIHST.

Any auxiliary, supporting, or benefactor of GAIHST who, where applicable, pays dues equal to or different from those of active members, may become an associate member provided they comply with all established admission standards. This member is not eligible for the Board and does not have the right to vote at member assemblies. However, they have the right to attend and to speak.
